Argh! A spider Kill it! Kill it! My worst fear is spiders especially White Tails. They bite and have long legs, Lots of eyes and All spiders are mostly poisonous. I think this way about spiders because....... Last year at our old house, in the room that I shared with my sister there was a White Tail right above my bed! I was so scared but mum got a jar out and caught it. Then she chucked it out the window.
On Tuesday 25th of October Tinwald School had athletics day. Our teachers told us to line up on the courts after lunch in our age groups. I am a 10 year old so I lined up in the 10 year olds line. Our first event was Shotput. I got a 3 because I threw it far enough to get a 3. Our next event was Long jump and I got a 3 in that to. Our next event was Discus and I think that is enought to tell I'm ok at athletics I guess. So in total my favourite 2 sports were Short Sprints and Long Sprints. Yesterday Room 8 had an art Expo in our classroom so did Room7 and room9. We had to explain our posters to any parents that were interested in our 3d artwork. I only had a couple people come over to my stand but when they went away I got to go on the computer so I was happy. I was playing papas cupcakearia and me and Emma were also talking. I was suprosed that I was enjoying it and wasn't bored. But if I could of changed anything about my artwork I would make it more stable and solid and maybe actually put some legs on my pig. I learned that sometime things are hard but you have to deal with then like mine wouldn't stand so I made a little stand for it. I am really proud of my artwork and how it turned out and I am also really proud of Emma's Creation she made hers for a friend and it looks REALLY good! This is my dragon that I did for homework. The dragon is called sparky and has its own little bowl. Over the last couple of weeks Room 8 has been making robots. The problem was that we had to make robots out of recycled items from home. My robot was hard because I had to find appropriate items for a small scary and cute dragon. Would that be hard for you well it was for me. We had to make a chart and the pluses for me were: It stood up, It turned out to be small, It looks cool and I was right to chose to do it by myself. The minuses were: I am working really slow and I am not sure what to do next,it's bad that my bits and bobs kept falling off. And my interesting things were I haven't brung stuff form home yet. We also had to modify some stuff and what I wanted to modify was that I wanted to put some spots on my dragon, put googly eyes on and put WAY more details on it. But next what I would like to do is...just make the wings out of different stronger stuff and make it smaller and simpler. So that's all about my dragon FLAME! This term our topic is Make it work.Miss taylor split us into five groups and in my group there was Chloe, Aidan and Brodie also me of course. Our first challenge was MARSHMALLOW TOWER! I was exited but I was wondering what the materials would be? When I found out what the materials were I was really surprised these were the materials : marshmallows and surprisingly SPAGETTI! I mean I should of been some toothpicks skewers or anything alike that's not food. But we just had to deal with it. So we just carried on. First we made our own group name our is... The Potato Heads and then wee had to make a plan and we did and then we put it into action it didn't work so well. So then we copied the group beside us called WASABI but it was only part of the base. And we all had to work together so we tried to include everyone's ideas but if they weren't good ideas we didn't do them. In the end we came 2nd and we got three points but we only lost by EIGHT CENTERMETRES! It's not fair but we just took it as something we could work on together as a team to win. We did 3 more challenges and we came : 2nd, 0 {nobody won or lost it} and FIRST! So at the moment we are winning because we got 11 points and the only 2 teams that could catch up is THE FURIOUS 4 and the LIGHTNING BOLTS and there are a tie with 5 points each. So I think we are going to win for topic. GO POTATO HEADS! On Thursday the 31st of July Joseph Sullivan came to our school and spoke to us about his rowing experience. I think some of us dosed off a little bit though. Well I found It interesting anyway :). And after the Arrowsmith syndicate had Winter Sports Tourtanent practice all of the sport teams got to hold Joseph Sullivans GOLD medal and they also got a photo and in the Rugby Matthew a year 5 got to hop onto Joseph's shoulder and the photo looked weird. All in all the day was pretty good and I enjoyed meeting Joseph. In Central Auckland several thousand marched along Queen street. In Dunedin 120 people and 30 dogs were gathering like a mob to protest against Animal Testing to the Centre of the city to the octagon all of this was on the 17th of July but I am not sure if that is the real date.
