We are learning to read and understand our e-asTTle writing individual learning pathways. These results will help us come up with specific learning goals. They highlight the things we are good at and the things we need to work on. Have a look at the example report below!
This term Tinwald School are writing speeches. Our topic is life's a challenge. SO far we have brainstormed and picked topics, thought about ways we could hook the audience in our introduction and written our introductions. Today we started planning what we would include in our middle paragraphs. We are learning to use the 'Show, Don't Tell' technique in our writing. This is where you use lots of description to show the reader what you mean instead of telling them. It lets the reader visualise a scene or character in their minds and makes our writing much more interesting. We found out that a simile is when you compare two things using the words 'like' and 'as'. Using similes paints a picture in your head and helps you to visualise the character. We are going to try to use similes in our character descriptions to make our writing more interesting and to bring our characters to life.
This term we are writing character descriptions based on characters from the the movies in our AVAILLL reading program. Today we looked at Lewis from 'Meet the Robinsons', we decided on different headings we could use while planning and brainstorming information for our description.
This Term we are going to be focusing on Newspapers. Today we looked at the features of a newspaper and tried to identify them in a scavenger hunt.
We also had a discussion about what we already knew about newspapers. |
