Today we had the chance to explore the website 'Kiwi Kids News'. It has lots of great articles for kids. There is both National and International news, plus lots of weird and wacky things. The website has lots of interactive fun and videos to watch. This is a great website for us to look at at home instead of reading a book! Some of the articles we enjoyed were about cars that drive without humans and the pea shooting champs!
Tinwald School is lucky enough to get a visit from NZ Olympic gold medalist Joseph Sullivan tomorrow afternoon! Watch the video and check out the website to find out some more about him. Think about any questions you would like to ask him. http://www.olympic.org.nz/nzolympic/athlete/joseph-sullivan I hope everyone is enjoying the first week of their school holidays! I am loving Bali! It's beautiful here and very hot! Today I went biscuit riding in the ocean, did some diving, fed some monkeys and watched the sunset from the beach. See you all in a week and a half! Doodles are the fun, surprising, and sometimes spontaneous changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers, and scientists.
Schools in New Zealand have been given the opportunity to design their own 'doodle'. This competition offers young people the chance to have their artwork viewed not just by their teachers and classmates but by millions of people all over the internet! This years theme is "If I was an explorer I would...". Today we brainstormed all of the places we would like to explore if we had the opportunity. We had lots of ideas ranging from the Hogwarts Castle to the Himalayas. We brainstormed how we would get to our chosen destination and what we would see there. Click on the logo above to go to the Doodle 4 Google website. This week we have started practicing for the Mid-Canterbury winter sports tournament. We chose a sport we would like to trial for and after some rearranging, everyone made it into a team! Practices are on a Tuesday and Thursday and the tournament is at the start of next term. |
